Post here your findings of Ellectrostatic Induction principles. I will start with Figure 180, IV, since except for the motor it has some interesting similarities to other devices.
So what is interesting in this device is the single wire shock exciting a dipole comprised of P1 and P2, the dipole is set into resonance by the sharp spikes coming down the line from "T", this couples via S1 and S2 to generate out of phase currents to drive the motor "M".
The other wire in the circuit is the dipole coupling through space to the earth and the other grounded terminal of "T". Unfortunately the return path is not shown in the drawing, making the complete circuit unclear.
