10 MHz Signal Generator Circuit - Electronic Tesla Coil (TC) Circuit

This Receiver TC Design uses:

- 5- 1N4148 Switching Diodes in FWBR circuit.

- Diodes must be the 1N4148 Switching Diodes.

As so far it was the only diodes that worked!

Two Designs that worked so far.

1- 10MHz Signal Generator + 25 Watt Power supply Amplifier

2- Slayer TC, Electronic Circuit

He currently using the #2 Slayer Circuit, as he blew the 25W PS and is awaiting replacement shipment from China.

Test Results to-date:

1- 25W input to 500W DC output
2- 5-10W into to 70W DC output

TC Key Design Points

Primary Windings, 8AWG CCA thin strands,
to be wound to 1/3rd the height (1.33" long),
to the 4" long Secondary Windings, of 32AWG mag. wire.

His earlier Primary to Secondary windings, of 1/4 length was less efficient vs later 1/3 ratio.

His thicker strands 8AWG was less efficient than the thinner strand wire.

In this video i show how to add an optional tuning capacitor to the coils that can boost the power output anywhere from 5-20% depending on how close of a capacitor match we get. an LCR meter is needed along with an online lcr meter calculator & a multi value capacitor kit.

Resonant Frequency Calculator

https://goodcalculators.com/resonant-frequency-calculator/

This resonant frequency calculator employs the capacitance (C) and inductance (L) values of an LC circuit (also known as a resonant circuit, tank circuit, or tuned circuit) to determine its resonant frequency (f).

You can use the calculator in three simple steps:

Input any two parameters for a resonant circuit.
Select the units of measurement you wish to use.
Click "Calculate" and the resonant frequency calculator will calculate the third missing parameter.

LC Resonant Frequency Calculator

Inductance, L
Capacitance, C Resonant Frequency, f

© 2015-2022 goodcalculators.com

Steps to do:
Measure the TC primary coil resonant frequency Inductance and Capacitance
with LCR Meter
then plug values into
LC Resonant Frequency Calculator
to find resonant Capacitor for 2.4MHz

I am asking a few FE builders for input

I will remove this after you see it

It was just a quick comment from one person

Quote

I see his measurement error. He measures the voltage under no load and then measures the current. He would have to use 2 meters. When measuring current he would then use another meter to measure the voltage across his current meter. It’s probably going to be less then 1 volt. That’s his error, he is measuring the maximum (potential) of each separately and then multiplying them. They need to be both measured at the same time and then multiplied.
End quote

As noted
I will remove later
Respectfully
Chet
Edit
And here feedback on the above comment from another
Researcher
Quote
Yes, that is correct, but it needs better meters for RF measurements as we are in standing waves territory and you can forget DC amp and Voltmeters for it....

It is not a problem as he has one Multimeter and changes from volts to amps at both short and open circuits, 4 measurements total of VA at DC output.

He also has a scope picture of earlier coils showing OU outout.

Thank you Chet!

Hi Vrand, I have been through a few of your video's the latest coils in particular you mention
1/4 wave in video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HvbTTw-eyaQ I notice the PVC former is
a larger dia to the RX coils however i don't see any reference to the tube diameter for ether or
inductance or number of turns or perhaps wire length, is there any chance you can point to where
the relevant info is or note it on the thread, others might need this information.

Many thanks

Sil

PS nice work.

PS nice work.

Hi Sil

The coil tube diameter looks to be 1" PVC Pipe and he says so in his videos and drawings, sim. to Home Depot:
1 in. x 10 ft. PVC Schedule 40 Conduit
https://www.homedepot.com/p/JM-eagle-1-in-x-10-ft-PVC-Schedule-40-Conduit-67462/202295893

Attached are his enlarged drawing of "TC Coil Layout" showing

1" OD PVC at 6 to 8" long.

It is my understanding that it is 1" standard PVC pipe, and the grey sch 40 Conduit version also has a little higher temp rating vs the white PVC pipe.
He does also uses white PVC pipe.  And white PVC couplings as a bottom stand on some of his Transmitter units in his videos.

The number of turns is not indicated only the wire sizes and coil lengths,

- L1 - 8AWG primary CCA stranded wire at 1/3 the length of the secondary or 1.33" long (for 4" secondary coil), tuned with LCR Meter to around 2-3MHz range
He also had 1/4 long to 2nd coil in his early designs.  He mentioned 18" long in his 1/4 design.

- L2 - 32AWG secondary coil wound 4" long on a 8" long PVC with 1" clearance on bottom and 1-3 inch space at top,
By calculation it is around 500 turns can fit in 4" long coil with 32AWG,
He also had 5" long 2nd coils and 1/4 long primaries in his early designs.

LCR Meter is needed to tune the Transmitter and Receiver Units to same resonate frequency.

So this design is a tuned 4- Coil Design, sim. to Don Smith, Tesla, and others.

L1 + L2 is the Transmitter Unit, primary and secondary coils.
and another tuned identical set
L1 + L2 Receiver Unit, with added FWBR DC output for DC loads.

more Receiver Units may be added for more DC outputs.

Both the Transmitter and Receiver Units need to be built the same and tuned to same resonate frequency.

He has a video showing how to do this.

His latest design uses this 72W PS in his "Slayer" Electronic Tesla Coil TC Circuit.

He is awaiting for new 20W 5MHz PS to arrive from China, that powered his electronic TC design from a 10MHZ Sig Gen input.

SHNITPWR 3V ~ 24V 3A 72W Power Supply

 About this item

    Input: AC 100~240V, 50/60Hz ; Output: DC 3~24V Adjustable, Max 3A 72W ; It can supply with any voltage between 3~24V,such as 3V 4V 4.5V 5V 5.5V 6V 9V 12V 14V 15V 19V 20V 24V, etc and any amp less than 3A, such as 300mA, 500mA,1A, 1.5A, 2A, 2.5A, 3A. LCD display will show the output voltage, in case that wrong voltage regulation damage your device.

but

after looking at his videos, it looks to me that he was using 1" ID PVC and not 3/4" ID PVC.

Will update if I find out anything new.

Trying to figure out how its possible to charge a 9v Duracell Alkaline Battery?
Maybe a Lithium rechargeable battery would work better?
