They attack the foundation of your being.

4. They wear you down over time.

This is one of the insidious things about gaslighting—it is done gradually, over time. A lie here, a lie there, a snide comment every so often...and then it starts ramping up. Even the brightest, most self-aware people can be sucked into gaslighting—it is that effective. It's the "frog in the frying pan" analogy: The heat is turned up slowly, so the frog never realizes what's happening to it.

5. Their actions do not match their words.

When dealing with a person or entity that gaslights, look at what they are doing rather than what they are saying. What they are saying means nothing; it is just talk. What they are doing is the issue.

6. They throw in positive reinforcement to confuse you.

This person or entity that is cutting you down, telling you that you don't have value, is now praising you for something you did. This adds an additional sense of uneasiness. You think, "Well maybe they aren't so bad." Yes, they are. This is a calculated attempt to keep you off-kilter—and again, to question your reality. Also look at what you were praised for; it is probably something that served the gaslighter.

7. They know confusion weakens people.

Gaslighters know that people like having a sense of stability and normalcy. Their goal is to uproot this and make you constantly question everything. And humans' natural tendency is to look to the person or entity that will help you feel more stable—and that happens to be the gaslighter.

8. They project.

They are a drug user or a cheater, yet they are constantly accusing you of that. This is done so often that you start trying to defend yourself, and are distracted from the gaslighter's own behavior.

9. They try to align people against you.

Gaslighters are masters at manipulating and finding the people they know will stand by them no matter what—and they use these people against you. They will make comments such as, "This person knows that you're not right," or "This person knows you're useless too." Keep in mind it does not mean that these people actually said these things. A gaslighter is a constant liar. When the gaslighter uses this tactic it makes you feel like you don't know who to trust or turn to—and that leads you right back to the gaslighter. And that's exactly what they want: Isolation gives them more control.

10. They tell you or others that you are crazy.

This is one of the most effective tools of the gaslighter, because it's dismissive. The gaslighter knows if they question your sanity, people will not believe you when you tell them the gaslighter is abusive or out-of-control. It's a master technique.

11. They tell you everyone else is a liar.

By telling you that everyone else (your family, the media) is a liar, it again makes you question your reality. You've never known someone with the audacity to do this, so they must be telling the truth, right? No. It's a manipulation technique. It makes people turn to the gaslighter for the "correct" information—which isn't correct information at all.

Do you see what's going on?. This is how these populist types operate however once we understand what is actually going on it's 100% predictable and almost comical to watch. Don't fall for there bullshit and the only solution is to remove these people from our lives. Don't give them the oxygen these crave, ignore or remove them.

None of what is happening in our World is spontaneous.  It is all being managed,
engineered and financed by Psychopathic Elites who are in control of approximately
50% of the population.  The "gaslighted" are those who are tearing down and
burning.  The "gaslighted" are those who are the footsoldiers for the revolution
which now threatens America.  It is a repeat of the Bolshevik Revolution of 1917
with a modern twist.  The past tends to repeat itself as the "playbook" is edited
and revised to adapt.  The Traitors have revealed themselves.

It will get worse.  In due time even the doubters will finally realize that they have
indeed been "gaslighted."

Not everyone is lying.

The Fear and Hysteria lies originate at Command and Control.  From there they
are fed to the media for dissemination.  The liars are paid to lie of course, as
they are themselves deceived. ???

The lies, which are repeated endlessly, have been quite effective in controlling the
thinking and the behavior of the gullible masses. :'(

The Mind Control Operation in America has taken several decades to put into place.
It is an odd feeling to see how almost completely the American People have fallen
for the lies and have readily accepted the fear induced Behavior Modifications.
It has in fact occurred just as it was foretold that it would transpire in the Words of
the Prophets.  There really is nothing new under the Sun. >:-)

But the Mass Deception will be only temporary.  In a relatively short time the eyes
of the People will be opened and they at last will be able to see how they have been
deceived and by whom.  That conclusion is a part of the Prophecies as well. :)

That is Good News. ;D

What is going on World-wide is not surprising nor was it unexpected.  Many of us
knew that it would take place at some point in time.  That this is happening now simply
means that the End of this Wickedly Evil Worldly System is approaching.  The process has
been likened to 'birth pangs" because the transition from an Evil World to a Good
World will be painful for all concerned.  Knowing that its time is short, Evil proceeds
to destroy all that it is able to. Evil always makes its exit with great chaos and violence. >:-)

But only for a time. :)

Gas-lighting is what all psychopaths  do .

That article really focused on the victim and missed the cause .

Psychopathy is throughout society and a "condition" would describe it better than an illness.

It comes from our fight or flight instincts which we don't need any more ...untill we do .

Many companies  could not operate well without these hard driving nutters.

It is very common in politics .

If somebody gaslights you its your problem not theirs ,knowing this should help you refrain from murdering them.

It seems clear to me that mudped is a religious fundamentalist who believes in an impeding apocalypse, the rapture and the end times - and is using this forum to preach his extremist views.

I really admire your persaverance and gentlemanly manner in your posts. I know that it is difficult to deal with this subject when the most arogantly ignorant are the most vocal.

One, for example, believes Covid was unleashed in the wet market by mother nature to teach us a lesson on our unhygenic ways. While the other thinks that 19 arabs who barely fly a Piper could step into a pilots seat and fly a 767 hundreds of miles and strike a taget building with an aluminum plane that could cut through steel and start a fire so hot as to melt steel with people able to stand in the fire unaffected while the fire was able to simultaneously sever the concrete core and all it's steel columns and all the 240 perimeter columns so the building would fall straight down at free fall speed. unreal!!! (and with half the arabs still alive after and at least one of the planes still flying four years later! That must have been the one that flew straight through the tower)

I think you meant it's there problem not ours and I agree.

I just wanted everyone to understand how gaslighting works and once we know how to recognize it we can avoid it. It's kind of amazing that almost all these populist types use the same gaslighting techniques. There is basically nothing new or unique about it and it's all about repeating the same falsehoods over and over under a similar premise.

It's also neat that the gaslighting becomes almost comical rather than irritating and simply loses all it's effect. It's like... not this shtick again, lol.

If you study psychopathy a bit you will see the whole problem is our reaction ( want to murder them ) that they thrive on

Gas-lighting is but one of the many aspects of the psychopath.

Psychopaths don't know or care if they are ,which is both a strength and a weakness .

There are also "victims" whom psychopaths seek , who actually want to be led ... what a wonderful world.

I am a believer in The Book of The Word and it seems clear to me that we are in fact experiencing
The Revelation or The Great Awakening or The Apocalypse.  We are seeing that more and more
with each passing day the Evil which controls this Planet is being exposed so that we may know.

I believe "the rapture" as commonly taught is a distortion.

The End Time simply means that we are in the time when Evil has run its course and will be
eliminated.  What is coming beyond that time will be a New Time free of Evil.

I suppose from your point of view and comprehension of the Workings of Our World that
"extremist" seems an appropriate descriptor.

As we move further into the Transition it will become clear who really are the "extremists."

none will be lost.  We shall all live again healed of all of our imperfections for a very, very long

No, it is not my problem it is our collective problem. Adolf Hitler was just another psychopath gaslighting people and look how that turned out. Would you say Adolf's critics were over reacting?, would you say they over reacted when they were forced into gas chambers and incinerated alive?. Context matters.

Are you a Christian?, because the bible basically spells all this stuff out in easy to understand terms. Don't lie, don't cheat, grope your neighbors wife like donny trump, don't let the bs your psychotic neighbor or friend is preaching slide because it always grows and comes full circle. Hell, I'm an Atheist but apparently I know more about the bible than 99% of theists because I don't just preach it at least I try to follow in practice. 

Unlike jerry falwell jr, you know Mr. Threesome, who apparently was shagging his wife's assistant and god knows who else. Jackass Jerry said trump should get two more years in office which is illegal and violates the constitution because the senate broke the law and gave trump a pass on what was proven to be collusion with the Russians. So trump should get two extra years because the senate broke there oath of office and refused to do there god damn job, lol. I mean I couldn't even begin to make this kind of deranged shit up but apparently jerry in a man of god?, what a complete and utter shit show.

So no as a Canadian I'm just not all that tolerant of all this degenerate, immoral and psychotic behavior... so no I will not just get along, it's bs.

You nailed it, you should be questioning why you think you need to defend self serving psychopaths. I won't defend them, there psychopaths and can't be trusted. It's that simple.
