This does relate to energy, because a collaboration is always on the table if anyone would like to work on a project. A book about free energy scams to watch out for would be a neat one, for example. Areas and operating principles that we may know about and be wary of, but others may not be.

My book, The Beacon has now been published on Smashwords, in various ebook formats and even has an ISBN  :)
They are the largest publisher of ebook material, with outlets including Amazon, Barnes&Noble, Apple and Goodreads.
There were quite some hoops to jump through, including the lack of Microsoft products here so I had to use Word Online.

The story is based around 2 actual recurring dreams, that have been present for the past 25 years.
As the blurb goes for the book:
It's 2019, an EMP attack has devastated the Eastern half of the USA. How do people react to the changes and struggles of life without power? Follow the journey of a young man searching for pockets of civilization, the characters along the way, the ingenious problem solving and the attack of a drone called Satan.

Titles to follow will include Peltier Goes To Hollywood and The Pyramid of Soot...both available for reading already in my bench section here.
To make sure that i'm not accused of spam, do note that while the book has a $0.99 price on it, anyone from this site can PM me and i'll gladly send them the full PDF version.
Am just sharing the good news about finally being published, for those who may be interested.

Many thanks for your supportive comments regarding previous short stories !

Believing in something false doesn't make it true.
Neat!  I love Smashwords!  I download books from there regularly.  I am cheapskate though.  I only download the free ones.  They have an amazing collection of new writers.  Congratulations on being published!

I'll send you a PM for the free PDF.  I have not set up an account to purchase books from Smashwords.

Good luck on your book.

Thanks Carroll, will check the Messages right away.

A short review, here or PM would be very handy for future writing, knowing that you are a learned gentleman.
I would read reviews by slouches too but wouldn't take any notice of those  O0

There will be free books, it's a good way to introduce people to an author. Am just quite proud of The Beacon and a sequel is in the works.
It's a way, hopefully, to further those ambitions and to buy 'the things' from China more regularly for energy work. I expect that James Patterson could afford a whole Ebay store.

Mark,

you are a very versatile man, no doubt about that.

I will be downloading and reading your book soon, but knowing you a little over these last years, it will be a pleasure to read, i am sure.

Thanks Chet and Itsu,
Am honoured to know some of you guys and often say that to my wife...without having a drink before doing so !

Chet - have sent the PDF version by email.

Itsu - As noted by Carroll, it seems that attachments don't work in the PM section, so email is the best way. I would certainly send you the book by email. but don't seem to have your address.

Of note perhaps for readers here, is that one scene in the book features a waterwheel based on the Berdini SSG.

Slider,

i just finshed your book, allthough i am not a reader i must say it was a pleasant read.
It depicts reality after such an event that i can relate to.

I wonder though how many people know the name AM stands for a famous British sports car.

Nice touch also was the guy named "Mark" with the B SSG.

Anyway, i enjoyed it very much, thanks for read, looking forward to the next book.

Thanks for reading it and for your review.
There really isn't much for education about EMP attacks in any easily digestible format. An area of warfare that could impact us all is merely at the frightening level of understanding and was one main reason for the focus.

Am very happy that a European gent such as yourself could relate to the events that evolve over in the USA.
Perhaps that is the thing about the lead characters name...it should be very well known because of James Bond films especially, but if not a 'petrol head' it could escape brand awareness.
I was actually more concerned about how many nowadays would remember the Hanna-Barbera cartoon Penelope Pitstop !

Mark and Julie are myself and my wife, included because of a 25 year repeating dream in real life. Whereas the geiger counter guy and the story he tells is the same, all I have ever seen of the generator is a waterwheel that produces power and i'm adjusting it. An interesting consideration being that circuit and device building beyond 555 timers only started around 2003, some 10 years after that recurring dream began.

The next book will be The Beacon 2 - Battle of Nuclear Creek
Same situation for members here, a free send via email if interested in reading it :)

Sounds like such an intriguing book, Mark!   O0

Pls send by email if you would (profsjones@gmail.com) - I'd love to read it and let you know what I think!!
I have an idea, to pay you directly via PayPal, for the books...  Seems like that way there is no "fee" taken by the website guys...   :)

Hi Steve,

Thanks for your interest, have emailed the book to you.
The Paypal idea would most certainly sidestep some costs for average priced titles, but the other 3 are free downloads anyway. The heavily revised for publishing 'Peltier Goes To Hollywood' can have a payment amount of $0.00
:)

'The Beacon 2 - Battle of Nuclear Creek' is about 70% done. Am hoping to finish it in about a weeks time.
Then will let it sit a week, will re-read it, become slightly horrified in some way about an omission or aspect and upload the finished version a few days later after my wife has proof-read it. That's the method that seems to work.

And am certainly going to do something with a free energy theme in a future fact fiction mix.

Also thanks to Peter for allowing this thread to be posted, I appreciate your kindness.
