My view:

The tubing is definitely open at the taped/crimped end - except for the possible inner return conductor.

The only way I can see the TL concept working is if the electric field radiated from the main coils is radial. This would explain the need for a copper shield between the two counter-coils and the core.

The funny thing is..... except for the spark gaps and tubing winding... I use the same concept to design variable inductive load reactors.  8)

At certain points of the cycle, the inductance can be almost infinite. I don't know how the same could be done for winding-winding capacitance.

Taking the tubing (6T coil) as "open" and the core cable as grounded...splash of hard cider...eye of newt...bat wing...chicken foot...mandrake root...horny goat weed...

Radial electric field:  ah-ha!

1. Like a coax with the dielectric continuously kept charged by a rotating aether displacement (how does he get it to rotate? is it automatic?)
2. Could have used foil, tube, rolled sheet, or mesh for the 6T coil
3. not a transformer at all

Just need the pulse rate and nice sharp hv pulses.

That's it.  Aspden rules!

Something like this:

Sorry to disagree.

I am thinking the base function is more like the planetary Faraday disc motor proposed by Wal Thornhill.

The initializing pulses could probably be performed by pushing a button off and on with normal human timing. If a circuit is used for initialization only slow square or sinusoidal pulses would be required. That circuit could be turned off after the coil has started.

If he is using the bucking method to alter coil impedance, the so-called 'resonant frequency' could indeed be very low. Maybe even entrained to the dominant noise, 50Hz.
The coil wire insulation would require ratings more than double the coil operating voltage because the two main coils would be 180 out from each other much of the time.

Hmm.... Think of having a giant version of that copper tube coil around the Earth and centered at the equator... Think you could get some juice outta that coil ? :D

According to Aspden and Tesla, it will work.  It, also, will not run away in this configuration.

It might even be easier than I think it is.

Sounds like a good thing to try then.

Very easy to try.

Anyone else want to get a piece of this?  Come on!  You only live once!

Waht is the white thing at the end of the coil and what is inside the coil?

I don't know what the white thing is on the right side but on the left it looks like another inductor that slides into the big tube.
Maybe a nested inductor set for fine tuning??
