Dear All.

It has become quite apparent, IMO, that over the last few weeks two camps have emerged. The pessimists at this point seem to far outnumber the optimist's !!

Throughout my life I have always considered my glass to be " Half full "  never " Half empty " ..... Ever the optimist !!  For me, the constant bickering has become too much to bear. Like trying to find a path through a field of broken glass.

We are, after all working in one of the most esoteric of areas !!  We are called " Cranks " etc. etc.

I love this forum, one of the best IMO and whilst not wishing to leave this group of talented people I have decided to take a back seat and cease my contributions.

Whilst not believing in a Pink Unicorn called Fuzzy or any other deity, for that matter.......... I DO believe there is an AETHER !!

I would like to take this opportunity to wish my fellow researchers the VERY BEST OF LUCK in their endeavours.  O0

Ta Ta. Grum.

It's not as complicated as it may seem...
It's unfortunate that good detective work, and just good ol' common sense are considered "pessimism".

In my experience, these perceptions are most often held by those that don't have a complete understanding of the realm they are dealing with, take simulations as an example. Another recent example stems from not having a complete understanding of basic power measurements. Faraday too to has had his good name misinterpreted.

Yes, this is the best FE forum out there imho, but it seems many fail to realize why. Well I'll tell ya; it's because the moderators here care about what is said and what is claimed. We don't tolerate nonsense, abuse, flames, insults etc. and we actively enforce the terms of service.

Not only that, but certain bold or misguided statements will be called out, if and when they are noticed. I have done so recently with partzman for example.

Do as you wish, but please don't pout about what we do here. Things are good and they are that way because we care, and we do what's necessary to maintain the integrity of this site.

Dear Poynt99.

I agree with your sentiments, however the last sentence has me puzzled ? Is this a reference to face pulling ?

Cheers Grum.

Grumage ,

How  I envy you !  I live figthing with depression which took many years and fun from my life.If I got a few positive thoughts I could really move the world ! Overunity is not so hard, harder is to believe that it can do any good.I could have 4 or 5 usable OU devices today if I could believe in myself...  :(

Grum, I sincerely hope that you will reconsider and that you will continue working, posting, and discussing your work here.

I've considered leaving a few times myself, but only because I don't desire to be insulted for my work and my opinions and knowledge. Fortunately the moderators (Thanks .99!) are doing a good job keeping the insults and disrespect to a minimum. I get enough insults at that other place!

Stick around, you do good work and your reports are always interesting.

Cheers--

I would agree and I think the real problems start when anyone assumes they have a complete understanding of anything when we know this is not the case. I think the bearing motor is a good example because it appears so simple and yet I have not seen anyone anywhere offer any real proof as to exactly how it works. I mean we have big issues when people claim to be experts with decades of experience and yet they cannot even prove a dinky little motor made from a couple of bearings.

The fact is the unknowns are infinite relative to what we know and as long as everyone understands that and leaves room for doubt then I think things would go a lot smoother. We have a lot to learn and if there is one very important lesson we should have learned it is that good ol' common sense is seldom just common sense. Not that long ago it was just common sense why man can never fly, it was common sense to use leaches to suck evil spirits from one's body and it was just common sense that people who do not believe as we do should be burned at the stake as heretics. We have justified some of the stupidest and most cruel and immoral acts in the name of common sense because it was never about common sense it was about power and beliefs.

Well of course and everyone should... it's just common sense.

Grumage,
I have to second this sentiment. Some of us pretty much wait on the sidelines but this is the best of these sites.

I think the problem is some people have lost the magic, that magical feeling when they were smokin dope and playing their new completely portable polytonic synthesizer system in the basement. That feeling when anything was possible except for them getting laid in that purple sweater, yellow jeans and flip-flops. Those were the days when everyone was trying something new and ideas flowed like that shitty red wine bought in gallon jugs.

Some still have the magic and I think maybe some need to find it again... that spark.

When people are abandoning experiments with promising results and getting distracted elsewhere it is always not easy to keep in optimistic side.
In other hand only stubborn and focusing on same thing until people are achieving final results. And it does not matter which opinions are around it as long as work is being done for progressing.

As for myself there is possibility to achieve final results some day in magnetic field switching and with help others or without...

A pessimist is an optimist with experience.

No glass is half full or half empty. It is always full. It might be part liquid and part gas but it is always full.

It's necessary to take a break every now and then and get a different perspective. I hope you'll be back. Take a look at this for a different perspective of something we think we know but when we see it, it's clear that we just didn't have the proper perspective.
