Somehow, at some point in the reporting process, the name of the material was changed: According to the press release the material is Aluminum Nitridewhich is produced by reacting Aluminum with Nitrogen under the requisite conditions. Aluminum Nitrate is something else again. Here's an article describing how the device works. More here.
