Quote
Viktor investigated a new motor fuel that could be used in ordinary combustion engines, but without the dangerous waste products. He discovered that water in a constructive hyperbolic motion has the ability to bring about the syntheses of hydro-carbons suitable for fuel. In Viktor's experiments "water sprayed into a cylinder and a quantity of natural oxygen is added, a light heat pressure created by a descending piston is sufficient to transform the highly potent water into gas." (p.84 ibid.)

Interesting read, a bit different than what I knew about him.  Nature certainly can teach a few good lessons.

Indeed that's what i thought, i came across this info on him via a UFO film, it was speculating that the Germans during WW2 were trying to use his generator to power craft.

Unfortunately the video is in Russian but in English subtitles  :( maybe there's an English version somewhere i have not looked.

If your thinking about using pure Oxygen then be very careful:

http://www.pyramydair.com/blog/2007/05/please-be-safe.html

I remember reading one story about a guy showing off to his friend filling his PCP with Oxygen then handed the rifle to him. The rifle exploded destroying the room they were in and almost killing them both, the guy holding the rifle could never work again from his injuries If I remember correctly. There is a blog about it somewhere written by an air rifle guy who visited him in hospital and posted as a warning not to mess with pure Oxygen, the pictures were to graphic to post IIRC.

Be careful if your thinking about pure Oxygen engines, very dangerous, and you will need some kind of lubricant for a piston design. Oil and pure Oxygen don't play very well together!

Grease and Oil can be very nasty mixed with Oxygen, even air sometimes, there was a towering inferno in China or Japan some years ago that was started by a workman leaving a soaked rag in Lindseed Oil curled up, the rag got so hot from the Oil oxidizing it self combusted and started the fire.

If the Germans were trying to use an Oxygen engine as a power source it is highly likely they were using oil as well and not realising that the Dieseling effect was in play. I wouldn't be surprised if they blew up a lot of prototypes and not knowing why just observed the massive power spike available and tried to utilise it. Very dangerous to play with this technology without a proper research lab.

You also have to consider the energy used in processing air to pure oxygen (liquid) which will detract from your overall system efficiency.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Liquid_oxygen

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Air_separation

"Ceramic membranes can provide high-purity oxygen (90% or more) but require higher temperatures (800-900 deg C) to operate."

A gasifier can produce that kind of temperature and so the integration of a ceramic membrane for high purity oxygen production is a possible integration route for introduction of oxygen to the combustible gases produced from the pyrolysis process. Hmm... interesting... I am not going to touch that though, far too dangerous for the home tinkerer and I have more than enough exciting avenues to explore without having to touch that process.

Every time i see pure Oxygen being used for something i always think of those Apollo Astronauts, what ever were they thinking, imagine being asked to sit in an experimental craft in a pressurized Pure Oxygen atmosphere and then start flicking switches. Unbelievable.

It is also possible to decompose Carbon dioxide to Oxygen but requires a high temperature also, this could be a good way in space travel but only if the energy problem is solved first.
