"Dark lightning might be a natural process of lightning that we were completely unaware of before 1991," he noted. "But it is right above our heads, which makes it very fascinating."

And all this time I thought all was known, silly me, and it was right above my head.
Very interesting stuff.

I guess now they are unmaking stuff down. We all know that the spark from the spark gap is the after effect. But some clown who explain past this point will get a Nobel prize or PHD(potentially high discharge).

I am wondering if we are able to see this in spark gap discharges, it also has implications for Steven Marks and Spheric, Do we see Gamma bursts before current flows.

Also this radiation burst maybe ionizing in nature, so we now know how discharges start

Is it really dark energy, or just greater atmospheric conductivity due to the metals in the Chemtrails?

It's turtles all the way down
Instead of calling it a precursor to lightning, they call it "dark" because that is the word that get's attention these days.

As Jimmy Durante said "Everybody's tryin' ta get into da act"

Lightening is very interesting, you could say it makes use of a built in delay, cannot remember the exact details, but first the bolt moves a certain distance then stops, feelers go out and a return path is established from the ground upwards, after the delay then the bulk of energy then propagates down the streamer.

Makes me wonder if this happens in a spark gap albeit a bit faster due to the much smaller gap to travel.

We already know of an experiment that proves this Dark lightening i think on the bench.
A guy did an experiment where he was sparking a gap or something similar and he was getting some sort of puff/burst or movement of air the other side of the spark when a solid sheet of something was placed in between, memories too bad to even think where that experiment was posted, hopefully someone will remember it.

@Peterae

It is interesting to note that the instance before a VAD (Volt arc discharge)... a spark, is called the pre-glow discharge region. Energy which is supposedly invisible to the naked eye may be transferred and it is said can cause oscillations within itself under certain conditions.

http://www.rexresearch.com/correa/correa.htm

If this is the case then it may be that this new discovery is not new at all and simply a larger example of something already known. that would be comical, this mysterious new discovery of "Dark Lightning" is simply a pre-glow discharge.

I forgot to mention the excellent update to the forum info/recent posts section, it's amazing the big difference a little change can make. O0

Indeed AC we need to thank ION for that one  O0

One other thing that just came into my  mind, Gamma burst from lighting which is a positive discharge and ? burst from lightning which has a negative discharge, maybe not a burst but i do wonder if a negative discharge would be different.

this is a quote from the first article posted:

Quote
In 2006, two independent satellites -- one equipped with an optical detector and the other carrying a gamma ray detector -- coincidentally flew within 300 kilometers (190 miles) of a Venezuelan storm as a powerful lightning bolt exploded within a thundercloud. Scientists were unaware then that a weak flash of dark lightning had preceded the bright lightning.

I wonder if the two satellites, and the data recorded was synchronized correctly.    If you're off by a tiny fraction you could draw all sorts of erroneous conclusions.

I would have had a bit more confidence in the discovery if the two instruments were aboard the same satellite.  Its hard enough to synchronize two aquisition instruments on the same data bus, let alone on separate satellite moving relative to each other and to the phenomena observed.

What if relativity affected things?  what if propagation dealy was different due to who knows what changes in space weather?  etc.. etc..

Knock, knock ,knock!

The dates are interesting ,as are the moray references
and it needs a tube ... how about that ?
were the tpu coils evacuated ?

"dark" is scientific jargon for 'we don't really have a clue but we can make the math say our best SWAG is there'.

Why don't they just keep saying it is two or more clouds rubbing together and the friction causes sparks?  C.C

friggin' id-jets  ;D

Knock knock, who's there?   :D

TPU?  Where?

Reading this make me think of something.  Does particle physicists have problem interpreting jet results in particle accelerator or everything is just smooth sailing.  :D lol

I think "dark lightning" is a jet or sprite in a lower-energy mode, that does not glow in visible light.

Rosphere,

Excellent video which explains well the
electrical characteristics of the planets
and also candidly reveals the resistance
within the "science" establishment to
accepting certain truths.
