OK Chaps here's a quote from hostgator just to prepare everyone for some possible down time, this is happening at the worst time for me as i have very little time to iron problems out, i will do my best to keep the site up  O0

RE: the work which needs to be done on the forum ....

can others help with this? [we may have some capable and trustworthy hands??]
also perhaps the costs for the future should be discussed at some point ?

Not really Chet, i think we will be OK.

Once i get myself sorted out i will overhaul the website to the latest version, i have just downloaded a complete backup just in case of any problems.

I've run a couple SMF based forums (no expert on them though) but not sure I'd have the time to do this now.   My guess is that hostgator is just giving a warning but most likely there won't be any real problems in that PHP update.   It would be stupid for PHP to have an update that would kill a forum.   Might have some minor issues but I suspect it will still be usable.

Yeah i am hoping it will all go without a hitch, it looks like i may have the option of switch back to the older version of PHP is i need too, i must update this forum at some point anyway just a pain with the mods we did.
